Realtek Debuts Single-chip CMOS Solution for Wireless USB
June 15, 2007
Realtek Semiconductor, a Taiwan-based IC design house specializing in UWB (Ultra-Wideband) technology, has announced a single-chip CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor) solution codenamed RTU7105, which supports both certified wireless USB (Universal Serial Bus) and WiMedia logical link control protocol. Unifying PALs (Protocol Adaptation Layers), a MAC (Media Access Controller), a baseband processor, RF (Radio Frequency) transceivers, and USB2.0 and SDIO (Secure Digital Input Output) interfaces, Realtek's RTU7105 chip is manufactured using 130nm CMOS process technology. RTU7105 is currently being sampled and is expected to enter volume produce in the fourth quarter of 2007, according to a Nikkei report.
